Resumen

Se hace una descripción general de la geología, fisiografía, clima y vegetación de la Sierra de Chiribiquete (Guaviare – Caquetá, Colombia). Se hace una clasificación preliminar de la vegetación, definiendo con mayor detalle la sabana casmófita que cubre la mayor parte de los afloramientos de arenisca. Basándose en inventarios y observaciones de campo se analiza la estructura y composición florística de estas formaciones vegetales. Se realizan comentarios fitogeográficos sobre algunas familias coleccionadas en Chiribiquete y su relación con la flora de la región biogeográfica de las Guayanas.
