Abstract

An introduction to general aspects of the geology, physiography, climatology and vegetation from the Sierra de Chiribiquete (Guaviare – Caquetá, Colombia) is made. A preliminary classification of the vegetation is proposed. A more detailed study of the non-forest vegetation (chasmophytic savanna), based in releves and “in situ” observations, is presented, being analyzed the structure and floristic composition of these communities. A primer to the phytogeographical relationships of the flora of Chiribiquete with the Guayana region floras is finally intended.
