Abstract
El artículo “Palinología de la Región de la Laguna de los Bobos, Historia de su Clima, Vegetación y Agricultura durante los últimos 5.000 años”, fue obra del autor Prof. Dr. T. van der Hammen quien hizo numerosas contribuciones de enorme significado para la comprensión de las características ecológicas asociadas con la distribución actual de la vegetación y la historia de la misma en los últimos 5.000 años. Particularidades o hechos importantes:
1. Se refirió y definió de manera acertada la disimetría en la distribución geográfica de tipos de vegetación como los bosques de roble, asociada con contrastes climáticos, particularmente la condición de humedad.
2. Se documentaron cambios fuertes en la sucesión de tipos de vegetación abierta (pajonales) por boscosa (bosques de roble) y viceversa, eventos que fueron asociados con oscilaciones climáticas locales que pudieron compararse con manifestaciones globales. Se establecieron comparaciones entre los cambios de clima y sus efectos en la vegetación a nivel regional (Colombia) y global (Europa) y se les asoció con las fluctuaciones climáticas de periodos críticos bien definidos para Europa durante el Holoceno. Se fijó un punto clave en las discusiones sobre efectos de cambio de clima global y la señal de su influencia a nivel regional.
3. El hallazgo de granos de maíz y su interpretación a nivel local y regional, así como la corta, pero muy fundamentada discusión sobre relaciones probables entre culturas antiguas con base en la extensión de la agricultura, fue un aporte muy significativo para disciplinas como la arqueología, la antropología así como para entender el manejo del territorio con nuestros antepasados.

Transfer of author rights
