Miranda, D.R. & P. Muñoz de Hoyos: Relaciones filogenéticas del subgénero Ectemnaspis subgrupo bicoloratum (Simuliidae: Simulium). Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. 18 (71): 571-577, 1993. ISSN 0370-3908.
Los cromosomas politénicos de tres especies del género Simulium subgénero Ectemnaspis, subgrupo bicoloratum: Simulium ignescens, Simulium tunja y Simulium furcillatum, y las especies Simulium muiscorum y Simulium sensu stricto (Diptera: Simuliidae) consideradas como grupo ajeno, se analizaron para establecer el patrón standard de bandeamiento. Se observó baja homoplasia para los caracteres estudiados, de los cuales la homosecuencialidad de los cromosomas I y III es la sinapomorfia que delimita al subgrupo bicoloratum. Se plantea una hipótesis de parentesco entre las especies estudiadas y un marco citológico de comparación entre las especies de los subgéneros Ectemnaspis y Psilopelmia.
