Abstract
The polytene chromosomes of three species of the subgroup bicoloratum (Simulium, Ectemnaspis): Simulium ignescens, Simulium tunja and Simulium furcillatum, and the species Simulium muiscorum and Simulium sensu stricto as outgroup were analyzed to create the subgroup standard map. The characters show low homoplasy and the sinapomorphy of homosecuential pattern of chromosomes I and III delimitate the subgroup. It is shown a cladistic hypotheses and a cytological frame to compare Ectemnaspis against Psilopelmia.
