Se establece la biblioteca genómica de ADN total en la cepa FCB-1, plásmido puc 18 mediante clonación de fragmentos. El máximo nivel de detección obtenido es de 0.1 ng equivalente a 1 000 parásitos por muestra de sangre infectada; dicho nivel permite su utilización como herramienta en el desarrollo de métodos para el diagnóstico de la malaria en Colombia
