Resumen
Las siguientes notas son la ampliación de uno de los temas mencionados en un conferencia que con el título de "Los Satélites artificiales y la forma de la Tierra", tuve oportunidad de realizar en una de las sesiones de la Academia Colombiana de Ciencias, en el año de 1963. Otros aspectos de dicha charla, como por ejemplo el referente a las perturbaciones de un satélite causadas por no ser el potencial gravitacional terrestre el de una esfera homogénea o formada por capas esféricas homogéneas, y el de las implicaciones geo- físicas, podrán ser objeto de otras notas separadas.
