Abstract

The theory of dynamical systems, as well as probability and entropy proportions support a predictive diagnostic methodology which differentiates normal, acute and chronic states and progression towards disease. We evaluated probability and entropy and its proportions of attractors constructed from heart rate and number of beats per hour of 30 normal Holter records and 60 with acute myocardial infarction. The methodology differentiated those dynamics indicative of myocardial infarction from normal ones, and quantified the severity of the dynamics, which makes it a useful diagnostic tool in clinical practice. © 2016.
