Abstract

Six new species ofthe genus Eleutherodactylus are named from the cloud forest ofthe northern Cordillera Occidental of Colombia. Two of the species appear closely related to species found on the amazonian slopes ofthe Andes in Colombia and/or Ecuador (one from western Antioquia is the sister species of E.ganonotus and the other from the Serranía de los Paraguas is the sister species of E.pugnax). With the descriptions of these six species, the cloud forest fauna of the northem Cordillera Occidental includes 33 species of Eleutherodactylus, ofwhich 30 are endemic to Colombia. E ven at elevations of 1900 to 2000m., twelve to fifteen species of Eleutherodactylus co-occur.
