Abstract
The sister of Colostethus edwardsi and C. ruizi is described as a new species of Colostethus. The monophyly of the clade containing these three species is supported hy the occurrence of the anal sheath, and C. edwardsi + C. ruizi are united hy the synapomorphic ahsence of a tarsal keel or tubercle (present in all other dendrobatids); The type specimen of the new species is reported to have been collected within the urban arca of Apartadó, Antioquia, but the veracity of this information is questionable, given that the biogeographic scenario of a Chocoan lowlands species being the sister of two species from the subpáramo of the Cordillera Oriental is extremely unlikely.
