Abstract
Two contact assays were carried out in sediment associated with the species Rhizophora mangle of the Seville River- Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta (CGSM), in order to evaluate their capacity of adsorption Cd, Pb and Zn, and the competition of these three metals for the adsorption places. The measurements were made by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). The Langmuir isotherm showed the following adsorption behavior Pb>>Cd>Zn, which was narrowly related with the natural system observations, where the biggest Pb concentration is the non bioavailable form. On the other hand, desorption assays in function of salinity were carried out, these assays evidenced a strong competition by the places of adsorption between the Zn and the Cd, and they showed the influence of this variable in the mobility of the studied metals, with a desorption order of Cd>Zn>>Pb.
