Abstract
A new species of Cyathea is described and a new name is proposed for Cyathea parva (Maxon) R.M. Tryon because there is a nomenclatural problem. A preliminary checklist of Colombian Cyathea is presented. The genus has 55 species and five varieties. These are distributed widely in Colombia, but the greatest concentrations are found in Andean region. Each species has comments about geographical and altitudinal distribution.
