Abstract
The rol played by Lavoisier in the so called Chemical Revolution is illustrated within the context of eighteenth century chemistry. His contribution is seen as a creation of a new style of thinking and doing chemistry, outside of the two main traditional che- mical cultures known as the Chemistry of Principles and the Corpuscularist Mechanical Chemistry. It is shown how the resolution of the Combustion problem shed new light upon the problem of Composition of the Bodies and paved the way for the emerging Modern Chemistry. It is explained how the introduction of an analytical and logical language into Chemistry completed this Scientific Revolution.
