Abstract
Human sketetal remain radiocarbon dated to 5.030 ± 40 years B.P from Aguazuque in Colombia with pathological alterations sugestive of treponema} infection: gummatous osteoperiostitis, hyperostosis and caries sicca among others, was analyzed using immunological methods (FTA·ABS) demostrating the presence of antigens from Treponema pallidum in the affected bones, examined, indicating that syphilis have had a long residence time in
Precolombian America.
