Abstract
Three new endemic species of the genus Atelopus are nomined and described from the highlands of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Magdalena, northern Colombia (A. laetissimus and A. nahumae from the Cuchilla de San Lorenzo, 1900 m. and A. leoperezii from the Serranía de Cebolleta, 3400 m.) none of which are closely related among them or with previously know species. With these additions the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta has five species of this genus and consequently this area appears as a significant secondary center for the diversification of Atelopus. A discussion is included about the possible origin of that process and it is provisionally concluded that the original populations become established in this area after more of one sussessful invasion coming from Perijá range, followed perhaps by events of geographic speciation into the Santa Marta Massif.
