Abstract
The analysis, technique R, for finding characters correlations was used in tree species of Brunellia (Brunelliaceae), using a basic matrix (n x t) of 32 morphologic vegetative, flower and fruit characters, whith 17 Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs). The results showed clustering between characters of the same nature, referring to the character type or origin vegetative part, flower or fruit. The greatest correlations were found between diagnostic characters at a specific and infraspecific level. These correlations are the result of highest genetic and ontogentic dependence and are also related with patterns of geographic variation in response to the altitudinal and humidity variation. In other correlations, the genetic-ontogenetic dependence is related just with the biological patterns of development. Correlations less than 0.7 did not show high genetic-ontogenetic dependence.
