Abstract

A new species of Columnea and a new variety of Columnea lanata (Seem.) Kuntze, belonging to section Collandra (Gesneriaceae), are described and illustrated. The new species was found in the Pacific slopes of the "Cordillera Occidental" in the Department of Chocó in Colombia; the new variety comes from the Pacific slopes of the "Cordillera Occidental" in the region of Murrí located at the Northwest of the Department of Antioquia. A taxonomic key to distinguish the new species from the morphologically closer species is presented.
