Peer review
Manuscripts (Ms) meeting all author guidelines are welcomed. Ms will be assessed by the editor in chief and the associate editors’ having expertise regarding the topic which the Ms deals with.
If the editors see fit, the Ms will be sent to at least two peers who are knowledgeable concerning the topic dealt with by the Ms, under blind modality. They will evaluate it and send their recommendations to the editors It is estimated that peer review will take around 90 days.
The reviewers can decide to accept an article without any modification, accept it (during a second round) if some recommendations have been addressed or reject it outright. If peers provide contradicting assessments, an extra reviewer will be approached to settle disputes and reach a final decision.
The corresponding author will be notified of the peer review results. He should return an amended version if recommendations have been made, underlining the changes, along with a document detailing response to the reviewers’ queries, four weeks after receiving the reviewers’ comments.
When the corresponding author takes more than 30 days to respond to the suggestions of the evaluators, it will be understood that the authors have withdrawn the manuscript in its current form and, if it were submitted again, the Editorial Committee of the Journal will consider it as a new submission.
Accepted manuscripts will be considered as property of the Journal of the Colombian Academy of Exact Physical and Natural Sciences and may be reproduced totally or partially by the Journal.
The Journal is not responsible for the content of published manuscripts and all related legal implications.

Publication ethics and publication malpractice statement
La Revista de la Academia Colombiana de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales (The Journal of the Colombian Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences) (RACCEFYN) welcomes the international regulations defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Some rules can be found at:
COPE guidelines on good publication practice:
https://publicationethics.org/resources/code-conductOf special interest are considerations about retractions defined as a mechanism for correcting literature and alerting readers to articles containing content or data so seriously flawed or erroneous that their findings and conclusions cannot be trusted.

Plagiarism
Manuscripts submitted to the Revista de la Academia Colombiana de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales (RACCEFYN) will be examined with the anti-plagiarism software Dupli checker (https://www.duplichecker.com/es), to detect and prevent plagiarism ("action or effect of plagiarizing [or] substantially copying the works of others, claiming them as one's own": https://dle.rae.es/plagiar#CU0knYP).
Remember:
- Publication on preprint servers, such as arXiv or bioRxiv, is permitted and will not affect editorial consideration. However, authors should mention the repository on those servers.
- If you wish to cite large pieces of text, please identify the source.
Retraction Guidelines
COPE Retraction Guidelines are formal COPE policy and are intended to advise editors and publishers on expected practices when considering whether a retraction is appropriate, and how to issue a retraction.
Summary
Editors should consider retracting a publication if:
- They have clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either because of major error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error), or as a result of fabrication (e.g., of data) or falsification (e.g., image manipulation)
- It constitutes plagiarism
- The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper attribution to previous sources or disclosure to the editor, permission to republish, or justification (i.e., cases of redundant publication)
- It contains material or data without authorisation for use
- Copyright has been infringed or there is some other serious legal issue (eg, libel, privacy)
- It reports unethical research
- It has been published solely based on a compromised or manipulated peer review process
- The author(s) failed to disclose a major competing interest (aka, conflict of interest) that, in the view of the editor, would have unduly affected interpretations of the work or recommendations by editors and peer reviewers
In addition, it presents its General Considerations on ethics of scientific publication and bad practices which includes:
- Authorship of the manuscript submitted for publication
- Recognition of the contributions of other researchers
- Duplicate posts
- Public access to original data
- Originality of the manuscript
- Conflicts of interest
- Errors supported in published articles
- Statements on minimum risk to human health or minimum environmental impact
-
Open access policy
The journal enables open access to published articles via its website (www.raccefyn.co) to further the dissemination, accessibility and visibility of scientific work. Which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
This policy fulfils the DOAJ definition of open access.
