Resumen
Eleutherodactylus taeniatus previamente se confundió con otras especies del género establecidas en alturas moderadas; una de las especies nuevas está confinada a la parte norte de la Cordillera Occidental donde aparentemente sustituye a E. ptochus. La otra especie se encuentra en el altiplano antioqueño de la Cordillera Central, mientras que E. taeniatus se encuentra por debajo de los 1500m al norte del Chocó biogeográfico y en el Magdalena Medio. Actualmente se conocen siete especies de este complejo en la zona transandina de Colombia.
