Resumen
Los peritecios de Mycosphaerella musicola y M. fijiensis, son similares. Ambos hongos se diferencian principalmente por la morfología de sus anamorfos. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo establecer una metodología que permitiera el diagnóstico rápido de M. musicola y M. fijiensis. El método consiste en utilizar jeringas de plástico de 6 cm3, a las cuales se les remueve el extremo anterior. Los dispensadores se llenan con agar-cristal violeta más estreptomicina y benomyl. De cada jeringa se pueden obtener entre 20 y 24 discos. El cristal violeta permite diferenciar a las dos especies, por teñir los conidios, siendo la coloración más intensa en el hilio, presente en Paracercospora fijiensis y ausente en Pseudocercospora musae, anamorfos de M. fijiensis y M. musicola, respectivamente.
