Resumen

Se estimaron los flujos de energía atmosféricos y advectivos de un embalse tropical a partir de datos de campo, correlaciones empíricas y la aplicación del modelo hidrodinámico Ce-Qual-W2, y se plantea una forma de estimar los cambios de la temperatura media inducidos por estos flujos considerando el efecto de los cambios de volumen almacenado asociados al flujo advectivo. Se pudo establecer que la variabilidad estacional de la temperatura en el embalse está gobernada por los flujos advectivos ya que estos tienen la capacidad de enfriar el embalse en las épocas de caudales altos, mientras el flujo atmosférico tiende a aumentar la temperatura durante todo el año. Los principales factores que explican la estacionalidad de la temperatura y de los flujos de energía son su ubicación sobre la zona de convergencia intertropical y su influencia en el ciclo de radiación solar incidente y de precipitación, la morfología encañonada del embalse y la baja velocidad del viento sobre la superficie.
