Abstract

A new species of Pentacalia from Serranía de Perija in the northern tip of Eastern Cordillera, Colombia is described. This species is closely related to P. americana H.B.K. and is placed in subgenus Pentacalia as part of the group of shrubs with divergent branches. Keys to recognize the colombian species of subgenera Pentacalia and Microchaete are provided.
