Abstract

Nineteen genera and sixty two species of epiphytes Pteridophytes were identified in forty eight localities in the lower montane forest of Cundinamarca, Colombia, between 1000 and 2300 m alt. The best represented genus is Polypodium with twenty three species. These species correspond to 46% of the species registered for Colombia. The individuals grow on the bark of trees or on the humus deposíted on them, such us holoepiphytes (HOE) and casual epiphytes (CAS) with inespecific hosts. The altitudinal and geographical distribution show the highest diversity on the western slope of the eastern Andean mountains range.
