Abstract
Writings and articles on the history of science, published in great number in the Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc., are here analysed as a genre of scientific exposition in its relation to the heterogeneous audience of civil servants, politicians, professionals, specialists and science students to whom it has been directed ¡it different moments. Its role in the power relations within the academic community, and its significance to the construction of an image of science and a scientific tradition in Colombia, are also considered.
