Abstract

A new strategic model for management of biotic resources from integrated conservation and development areas is presented. The model is intended to give any of these areas a way to analyze the presence of biotic resources in light of their phenology and consequent cash flow. Through this analysis, local area managers have the opportunity to add appropriate small businesses. The constant monitoring of both extraction and resultant cash flow permits use of the adaptive management protocol. While the model does not provide for calculations of prospective long-term earnings, it provides an outline for the community coordinators as they develop their program and monitor its development.
