Abstract
A new species of Marcgravia, M. dressleri Giraldo-Cañas, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to the Galeatae group and is known only from the Andean Cordillera Oriental, Department of Santander (Colombia). In Colombia, the Galeatae group is represented by two species, M. dressleri and M. zonopunctata S. Dressler. A key to the three South American species of the group is provided. Colombia is the richest country for Marcgravia, with 22 species. A checklist of the Colombian species, including their altitudinal and geographical distributions, is presented.
