Abstract
The future of Colombian fruticulture is in permanent crops, such as tropical fruits, among them guava. This research aimed to identify the parasitic nematodes of this crop. The study was conducted in the region of La Cabaña, municipality of Manizales, Caldas, located at 1,100 m above sea level, with an average annual temperature of 24°C and annual precipitation of 2,100 mm. The sampling was carried out in a plantation of guava Pera of 3 years old. At random, 10 trees were sampled, and from each one, samples of 100 g of roots and 500 g of soil were obtained. The extraction of nematodes was done by following the method of centrifugation and sugar flotation. It was identified: Meloidogyne, Helicotylenchus, and Pratylenchus, with the most important being the root-knob nematode Meloidogyne spp.
