Abstract

As part of the works that actually are underway about the genera Sloanea L. (Elaeocarpaceae), Sloanea calva Palacios-Duque & Fernández-Alonso, a new species and one of the tallest three of the Chocó department, is described and illustrated, and its taxonomic affinities are discussed.
