Abstract
Philosophy of chemistry is a relatively new field in philosophy of science, which has concentrated many of its efforts on issues like the autonomy and identity of chemistry as a science and its relation with its manifest image, in order to be a tool that helps to solve the survival problems of chemistry as an autonomous science, that allows in this way to improve the image that chemists and chemistry have nowadays.
Philosophy of chemistry, in this sense, has a great role to accomplish in issues like improvement of communication between chemists and general public.
